Let No One Go There Unwarned and Unprayed For

I came across this quote by Charles Spurgeon this morning and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't often think about people going unwarned, I usually have the mind set that they've heard and just didnt listen. I struggle with telling people about the gospel, its actually one of the reasons i started this blog. This is one way i can proclaim God's gospel, give Him glory, and tell others about Him.

In this quote Spurgeon points out how important it is that we tell them the gospel, that we proclaim it until the end. "Let the perish with our arms about their knees." This is a stance of never giving up, being bold, begging others to see the truth. I'll be the first to admit, im aweful at this. I get anxious just thinking about inviting someone to church or a bible study. I think this quote is something i need to carry around with me to remind me of the importance of proclaiming the gospel.

I do often pray for the unsaved. I have many people around me that don't know the Lord and i yearn for them to find Him and pray for that often. I also pray for courage to speak to them sometimes, all while secretly thinking i will never do it. I have faith in the Lord, but not much in myself. I'm thankful i recognize this and pray that someday i really will boldly proclaim His gospel not just on this blog but in person.

Do you struggle with spreading the gospel? Maybe you should carry this quote around with you as well!

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  {Hebrews 4:16}
I hope this encourages you to proclaim the gospel boldly like it did me, pray with me for us to all shake the fears that hold us back so that we can bring Him glory!

Prayer Warrior Wednesday {Week 4}

It's Prayer Warrior Wednesday!
Today i wanted to focus on praying for one another! I think its so important to lift the sick and afflicted up to the Lord, to lift not only our needs but the needs of others! So today i've chosen a verse from James.

The context around this verse goes even deeper into praying for one another, for healing, for forgiveness, for praise!

 13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours; yet he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land. 18 Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit. 19 My brothers, if any among you strays from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his life from death and cover a multitude of sins. {James 5:13-20}

As Christians we are called to pray for one another, its so important to intercede for others.
 "First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,  for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." {1 Timothy 2:1-4}

There are so many ways we can pray for one another, do you have someone you could pray for today? Take a moment and pray for someone you know is in need or maybe just praise God for His blessings apon others! We must also remember to pray for the unsaved, we all know someone who does not know the Lord, lets pray fervently for them!

Can i ask you to pray for someone today? I've had a couple people ask for prayer for this little boy named Lincoln, you can read his story here: Would you take a moment to pray for him today? Thank you!

Keep praying, friends!

Fearless Monday {Week 3}

Its Fearless Monday or should i say Tuesday this week! Sorry for the lateness of this post! I sometimes cant find the words to write and i don't like to rush them!

This week i've chosen Psalms 91:1 as our verse. I hope this verse makes you feel as comforted as it does me!

I came across this verse last week and felt so comforted in it! I look at this little butterfly in the pictures and think about how small we are in this big world, but how much we matter to God. Sometimes my fear can take over all of my thoughts and really overwhelm me, fear of what man can do to me. I often forget Who i belong to, whose protection I am under. When i look at this verse and think about dwelling in His shadow, it makes me feel so safe that all those fears melt away. Imagine yourself dwelling in the shadow of God, like this little butterfly, safe within His hands. There are so many verses that are similar to this one, so much promise, here are a few.

For He will conceal me in His shelter
in the day of adversity;
He will hide me under the cover of His tent;
He will set me high on a rock.
{Psalms 27:5}

You are my hiding place;
You protect me from trouble.
You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance.Selah

{Psalms 32:7}

The Lord protects you;
The Lord is a shelter right by your side.
{Psalms 121:5}

I want to encourage you to write these down and place them where you can see them from time to time, we often forget what His word says, the promises He has given us. There is so much comfort in scripture to strengthen, encourage, and lead us through this life.  So when you fearful remember whose shadow you dwell in, remember that God is watching over you.

I hope this encourages you!

Prayer Warrior Wednesday {Week 3}

It's Prayer Warrior Wednesday Week 3! I hope you were able to read last weeks post, if not you can check it out here.

This week i've chosen Luke 18:1!

To start off, Jesus is speaking, so let's listen:

Luke 18:1-8
 He then told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not become discouraged: “There was a judge in a certain town who didn’t fear God or respect man. And a widow in that town kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
“For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect man, yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice, so she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’”
Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. Will not God grant justice to His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay to help them? I tell you that He will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find that faith on earth?”

Have you ever had a prayer that the Lord was just not answering and you started to feel like giving up? I have one prayer that i've been praying for years, its a thorn in my side that the Lord has not taken away. I know that there must be some sort of purpose in it and that one day it will bring God glory. I have often thought of giving up, thought of just stopping persistently asking for God to take this thorn out of my side, but God has not. As easy as it may be to just give up, Jesus tells us in these verses, not to. If you truly believe God can answer any prayer, then you truly have a reason to never stop asking and seeking Him in any situation. We must be faithful and persistent in our needs, God hears you and if He hasn't answered you yet, that dosen't mean He never will. We must hold strong to our faith and remember who God is, to never stop seeking Him, asking Him, and having faith in Him.

I hope this encourages you.

Fearless Mondays {Week 2}

Its week 2 of Fearless Mondays! I hope your as excited as I am about our verse this week! This week we are going to look at Luke 12:32!

This verse comes to us from Luke 12, in my bible the Holman Christian Study Bible i love the header for this section of Luke 12.

The Cure for Anxiety

In Luke 12  Jesus is speaking to His diciples. He is telling them not to worry about what they will wear or eat (all things we worry far to much about.) He says:

The Cure for Anxiety
22 Then He said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than the birds? 25 Can any of you add a cubit to his height by worrying? 26 If then you’re not able to do even a little thing, why worry about the rest?
27 “Consider how the wildflowers grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! 28 If that’s how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more will He do for you—you of little faith? 29 Don’t keep striving for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don’t be anxious. 30 For the Gentile world eagerly seeks all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31 “But seek His kingdom, and these things will be provided for you. 32 Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money-bags for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This is one of my favorite sections in the bible, I have the whole section highlighted. As someone who deals with anxiety on a daily basis these verses clothe me in comfort. This is Jesus, the Son of God, telling us not to worry, telling us DO NOT BE AFRAID! Yet we continue in our fear day by day. Our main focus today is on 12:32, it says, "Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom." Many of us worry about earthly things, but our true inheritance is God's kingdom. We focus so much on the materials of this world and not on the kingdom. We work hard to make sure we have enough on this earth instead of on the eternal treasures that we can take with us to the kingdom.
It says in His word not to worry about these earthly things, like food and clothes, He will provide them. Do not worry little flock, God delights to give us the kingdom and He will certainly provide all we need while we are on this earth. I want to encourage you to study these verses each week on your own, take a deeper look!

I hope this encourages you. See you next Monday!

Prayer Warrior Wednesday {Week 2}

 As some of you may have read in last weeks PWW post, for 2016 I've decided to start doing Prayer Warrior Wednesday a little differently! Each Wednesday I hope to post a verse here that encourages you and gives you hope in prayer! I will also continue to post the thread on my Facebook page where you can all go and post your prayer requests and praises! Please look through these prayer requests or praises and pray for one another! If you missed last weeks post here it is! ;)

It's week 2 of Prayer Warrior Wednesday! I don't know about you but I've spent a lot of time praying lately, so many ups and downs, stresses, blessings, praises, and the list goes on. I feel like I've been praying through most of my day so this week I've chosen 1 Thessalonians 5:17!

Pray constantly.

This one will be very easy to remember! ;) One of the reasons I've chosen this verse is because its true in my life. I wake up each morning and have my quiet time, i start with prayer, then go on to study the word. Then throughout my day i talk to God often, i always feel like we have an open line to talk to God constantly. This is one reason i never feel alone, He is always present, i can always talk to Him. I have the moments and days where i just can't feel Him but I know He is there. So today i encourage you to PRAY CONSTANTLY! Talk to the God of the universe, the One who made you.

Do you have any prayer requests today? Any praises? Please head over to our Facebook page and leave them in the prayer thread for today or leave them in the comments below. I'd love to pray for you and I'm also available through email if you have any questions or special prayer requests!

Don't forget to check out our Fearless Mondays post this week! {WEEK 1} And please subscribe to receive my posts to your inbox! ;)

Fearless Mondays {Week 1}

First off, i want to apologize that i didn't get our Fearless Mondays post up yesterday. To be honest with you all, i struggled with this post more than I've struggled with any post. I want this blog to bring glory to God and in every post i want to be true to His word, sometimes that dosen't always come quickly, sometimes I don't know what to write. So please accept my apology for not having this up on Monday!

This is the first week of our Fearless Mondays series! I'm so excited to share with you a verse each week to help you fight fear! This week our verse is 2 Timothy 1:7. Some of you may be familiar with this verse, its a strong one and I think its a great start to our series!

For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgement. {2 Timothy 1:7}

Let me give you the context around this verse:

In this verse Paul is talking to Timothy, from what i've studied Timothy was timid and Paul did not want him to let his timidness put out the flame within him. Paul wanted him to use his gift from God to boldly proclaim the gospel.

When I read this verse one thing that catches my eye is that it says that God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness. Fear does not come from God, it comes from within us, the only fear we should have is fear of the Lord.

 Our fears are often things we think up ourselves. For me fear has been a hindrance for years, I'm always stopping my children from climbing this, jumping on that, or running over there, all because I'm scared they are going to get hurt. I'm always afraid to talk to that neighbor, help that homeless person, or share the gospel because of fear. If I cant put fear aside, I will never be able to boldly proclaim the gospel of Christ to others.
I found it interesting that Paul mentions Timothy's grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. In a side note in my HCSB study bible it talks a little more about them saying that they were the ones who taught Timothy scripture, his father was not a believer. As a mother this hit home for me, my husband is a believer, but i also recognize how much influence i have on my children, especially since they are homeschooled, it inspires me to be more purposeful in teaching them God's word!

Paul goes on to tell Timothy to keep his gift from God ablaze and tells Timothy that God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, instead God give us a spirit of power, love and sound judgement. You see here that the fear that dwells within us is not from God, its from man or the enemy. So why do we let fear get to us? How can we proclaim the gospel boldly if we are timid or fearful all the time? If God didn't give us a spirit of fear, we shouldn't allow ourselves to continue being fearful day by day.

In Proverbs 28:1 the bible tells us "The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them,
but the righteous are as bold as a lion." Why do we flee when no one is pursuing us? We are not wicked people, we are made righteous through Jesus death on the cross, we are bold! We are filled with power, love, and sound judgement. We cannot let this fear overtake us day by day. When your falling into fear I encourage you to read this verse, remind yourself that fear is not from the Lord, instead focus on the words power, love, and sound judgement. Remember that God has given us these things, He is right with us, we are never alone!

Paul tell us that God has given us a spirit of power, love, and sound judgement. These are all things that combat the fear!

Power: We have the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.
"I am sending you what My Father promised. As for you stay in the city until you are empowered from on high." {Luke 24:49}

Love: Perfect love cast out fear.
"There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love." {1 John 4:18}

Sound Judgement: God gives us sound judgement.
"Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power." {Proverbs 8:14}
I like the versions of 1 Timothy 1:7 that says self control, with self control, we must take all these fearful thoughts captive.

 For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments  and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.
 {2 Corinthians 10:3-5}

As I look at 2 Timothy 1:7 I'm reminded not to be fearful, God has given so much to overcome our fears! Take those fearful thoughts captive and focus on the Lord's truths. I hope this encourages you to be fearless today and everyday!
